Spend a morning meeting new people while helping care for one of Miami’s oldest historic sites.
We Met in Miami is teaming up with the Florida Public Archaeology Network for a hands-on preservation and cleanup day at Miami City Cemetery.
Established in 1897, this cemetery is the resting place of some 9,000 Miamians — from city pioneers and veterans to Julia Tuttle, known as the “Mother of Miami.”
We’ll start by exploring the cemetery and the stories written into its landscape, with a local history chat and an introduction to cemetery iconography and historic preservation.
Then, we’ll learn how to safely clean historic grave markers and prune vegetation before we break into teams to put those skills to work.
After we wrap up, we’ll head to nearby Bunbury Miami for optional brunch or drinks and time to mingle.

Walk a mile with a new friend. Then another. Then another!
For this year’s Give Miami 5K, walk with We Met and enjoy a unique friendship matching experience.
Join our team and here’s what happens next:
📲 We’ll take a Matchbox quiz with questions about our personalities and values.
🏁 At the start line, the first set of matches will be released. You’ll find your match and walk together for the first mile.
👯 At the first mile marker, we’ll release the second round of matches, and we’ll shuffle.
🚶Third round of matches will be released at the second mile marker.
🏅At the end of the race, you’ll not only get a medal … you’ll also have three new friends.
